I was scraping the bottom of a Dijon mustard jar to make my favorite vinaigrette and decided it was too pretty to toss. Not an ordinary glass jar, this mustard was a new-to-me French whole grain variety, Pommery Meaux Mustard, that I admit I bought for the pretty packaging. Once the label was stripped, it resembled a pretty mini stoneware crock perfect to use as a little bud vase. Then after a little research, I learned that this container is a callback to the former packaging of prepared mustards from yesteryear! A quick Etsy search revealed lots of these vintage stoneware jars for sale. And of course after learning this, I started seeing these mustard jars as flower vases everywhere, so clearly I am not the first to think of this pretty upcycle!
