Blooms in Season | Winter

Winter is a tough time of year for seasonal flowers. While a great variety of flowers is available from the Southern Hemisphere, those come at a great environmental cost. Yet there are certain spectacular blooms to enjoy exclusively in winter like this bouquet, which is exceedingly simple. My mother-in-law grows amaryllis each winter and starts the bulbs indoors around Thanksgiving for a Christmas bloom time. This one in particular was worth the wait until after Valentine’s Day because it produced a magnificent show of four extra-large flower heads on a single stem, then a second round of the same! I was given the latter stem and arranged it in a simple, round glass bowl with a flower frog to enjoy.

What’s in this arrangement?
