Eataly first opened in Torino, Italy in 2007 and has since expanded internationally to major cities, including several in the U.S. My first visit was to its huge Chicago location, but most recently, I was able to see the smaller, but substantial Boston store. It’s such a cool concept: a high-end, Italian specialty grocery store with quality, cafeteria-style dining options of uniquely Italian fare. There’s a gelato counter, pasta counter, wood-fired pizza counter, fresh seafood bar and more. Nathan and I went to check it with our nephew, Kamran, and had so much fun discovering exotic ingredients like quail eggs, while octopus, and crazy-looking mushrooms, then dining from nearly every food counter Eataly offered. After dining, we grabbed some gelato an some Italian candies and truffled potato chips to go. Here are some snapshots of the beauty that is Eataly.
