My sister, Christina, and I hosted a tea-themed bridal shower for a friend a couple of summers ago. With the abundance of flowers from my cutting garden we knew there would be in late summer, we immediately settled on our theme. We put together a sweets & savories menu, served bubbly and a special black vanilla blend tea, and tucked teacups and flowers on every surface. My favorite detail was the last-minute flower crown we put together to surprise our bride when she walked in the door!
Grown-up sidewalk chalk
Two long folding tables stacked end-to-end fit in my furniture-less living room
A tea tin holds flowers (but it’s on a plate because it leaked!)
Guest favors were baby succulents from IKEA, tied and topped with a tea bag
Our bride wears a flower crown of chrysanthemum, tea roses, and sweet autumn clematis
DIY table runner where I drew a floral design on freezer paper, cut to fit the table
A pom pom and paper lantern display over the dessert table
Flutes ready for toasting
Mantle details
Mix-and-match vintage place settings
Tea sandwiches, savory baked pimento cheese pinwheels, deviled eggs, bacon-wrapped apricots, goat cheese honey and fruit crostini
For dessert! Lemon squares, lemon curd and raspberry tartlets, white buttercream cupcakes, chocolate mousse in prepared chocolate cups, and fruit parfaits served with fresh whipped cream
