‘One part spooky, one park chic’ is how I like to approach Halloween décor. Inflatable ghosts need not apply. I like to mix it up from year to year to make new, eerie little vignettes around the house. I’ve had the same bag of tricks for the past several years consisting of black birds, glittery skulls, velvet pumpkins, magnetic butterflies, and rubber mice. Without buying anything new, I created some spooky scenes with seed pod boughs cut from our local pumpkin patch, fallen branches and other dried florals from the yard. Now it’s time to settle in for a bottomless dish of candy and scary movies. Happy Halloween!
These black birds have descended upon our kitchen island
Snarly black lacquered manzanita branches and black tapers beneath our TV
A casual skull here and there
This masked beauty resides in the dining room
Enormous maple leaves found on walks in the woods rest in a stone planter on our foyer table, and velvet pumpkins surround
In infestation of mice in the dining room…
A chic little witch
These shadowy butterflies swarm the fridge
Only good pumpkin vibes at the coffee station
Broom corn and pampas grass adorn the bar cart
A menacing skull and candle on our mantle
Glittery copper skulls sparkle in the sitting room
An imprisoned glitter skeleton and pumpkins on our Cellar bar
Fallen oak branches become trees in our front planters…
…and glow orange by nightfall!
