Spooky Chic

My recipe for Halloween decorating is one part spooky, one part chic (inflatables and artificial cobwebs give me goosebumps). I like to look for natural materials that evoke an eerie mood. This year, I was inspired by a damaged crabapple tree in the park near our house. A major limb had fallen under the weight of a prolific crop of crabapples and I couldn’t let such beauty go to waste. Taking a page from the Brothers Grimm, these “poison apple” branches loosely frame our front door. More branches fill our cement planters, ready to tempt passerby maidens. “Go on, have a bite…”
